Devon Dairy Farm Vets

Ingrid Bijker DBR MRCVS

Ingrid is an experienced and enthusiastic farm vet with over 20 years experience in the dairy industry. Originally from the Netherlands, she was lured to Devon by its rolling green hills and famously reliable weather—straight after qualifying as a vet. It was during her training in Belgium that her love of surgery first took root. She also holds the Diploma in Bovine Reproduction (DBR). Staying current matters to her, so she’s always learning to ensure her clients receive up‑to‑date, evidence‑based advice.

While Ingrid enjoys all aspects of farm veterinary work, she has a particular passion for analysing herd performance. She loves turning data into practical, workable solutions that genuinely improve herd health and productivity.

Knowledge sharing is another area where she thrives. As a qualified “train the trainer,” she has delivered countless workshops both on and off the farm, all of which can be tailor-made to suit particular needs.

Devon Dairy Farm Vets family

New Zealand

In 2023, Ingrid and her husband Dave decided it was time for a family adventure. They packed up life in Devon and headed to New Zealand with their two children. There, Ingrid worked as a clinical farm vet at Massey University, teaching final‑year students and helping guide the next generation of farm vets. She relished the chance to learn new skills from her Kiwi colleagues and embraced the unique challenges of New Zealand farm practice.

When it was time to return home, the family didn’t rush. Instead, they embarked on an epic five‑month road trip across New Zealand, Australia, and the USA—making memories to last a lifetime.

Now happily settled back in Devon, Ingrid is pursuing a long‑held ambition: establishing her own dairy‑focused farm veterinary practice.

In her spare time, Ingrid loves exploring the countryside, hiking and biking with the family.
